Ted Martin
Director of CareerLink® Operations at the PA CareerLink® Fayette County
Ted H. Martin was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, but was raised in Westmoreland County. He graduated from Hempfield High School in 1990 and went on to obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Marketing from Seton Hill University in 1994.
Following his college graduation, Ted moved to Detroit, Michigan where he began his career at General Motors in their fleet car sales division. With a passion for sales and a strong work ethic, Ted excelled in his role, consistently achieving his sales goals month after month.
Unfortunately, the tragedy of 9/11 had a crippling effect on the US economy, which in turn had a significant impact on the automotive industry. As a result, General Motors was forced to downsize their workforce, leading to Ted being laid off. Considering these circumstances, Ted had to make the difficult decision to either stay in Detroit or return to his hometown of Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Ultimately, Ted chose to move back home and began working for a local nonprofit known as the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland and Fayette County. He started out as a Job Developer and quickly worked his way up the ladder, being promoted to Earn Coordinator within the welfare work programs. He continued to excel in his career, eventually being promoted to Project Supervisor and then Assistant Director of Workforce Development.
Currently, Ted holds the position of Director of CareerLink® Operations, where he oversees all three CareerLink locations within the local Workforce Investment Area. He has been in the workforce for 21 years.
With a strong background in communications, marketing, and workforce development, Ted has a proven history of success and a deep passion for helping others. He is dedicated to making a positive impact within his community and strives to continuously grow and develop both personally and professionally.
