YOUNGWOOD, PA (August 19, 2020) – The Westmoreland- Fayette Workforce Investment Board (WFWIB) has selected Courtney Venick to serve as its new Youth Services Manager. Formerly, Venick served as the Program Recruiter at Fayette County Career and Technical Institute (CTI) managing and coordinating student services related to the development of their career pathways and to improve student engagement.

Venick will succeed Janet Ward, who was recently selected as the new WFWIB Executive Director in May 2020. Janet Ward served as the WFWIB Youth Services Manager for six years, during which she managed and led several youth programs and exceeded all WIOA Youth program performance requirements.

“From Courtney’s interviews, it was clear that her background and previous work experiences have helped her to develop a strong understanding of the needs in our area and that she will be a dedicated advocate for youth and young adults,” stated Executive Director of the WFWIB, Janet Ward. “We are excited for her to get started and begin assisting us in our mission to lead workforce development in Westmoreland and Fayette counties.”

Courtney Venick is an experienced program manager with 13 years of program coordination experience. She has worked closely with youth and adult job seekers to grow our local workforce. Venick worked as an Account Representative for the Private Industry Council (PIC) of Westmoreland/Fayette County collaborating with various employers from all industries and coordinating employment services directly with job seekers and employers. Most recently, Venick held the position as Program Recruiter for Fayette County CTI. In this role, Venick worked closely with multiple districts and counselors to create student relation activities.

Additionally, she assisted prospective secondary students for future enrollment and solely organized job shadowing events to better prepare students’ career pathways. In these and other roles, Venick has an extensive history of collaborating with industry partners, working with job seekers of all ages to strengthen their futures, and managing programs that strengthen our local workforce. Courtney Venick holds a BA in Communications from the University of Pittsburgh and a Global Career Development Facilitator (G.C.D.F.) Certification from the Center for Credentialing & Education, Inc.

In her new role as Youth Services Manager, Courtney Venick will manage several youth programs for students from middle school to college level, recruit, and support TANF and WIOA eligible youth in our area and will build strategic partnerships and networks. These

responsibilities will increase the positive impact of WFWIB youth programs to provide youth with workforce development opportunities that will carry them through their futures.
